The Hive
The Hive is a misnomer. There are in fact at least 15 variations of Hive, all namite-based infections akin to viruses. The Unified Coalition has encountered only a few directly and is believed to be responsible for the destruction of two of them.
The bulk of the list below came from the Office of the Home. It is worth noting that Hive Pandora did not show up on their list.
Intelligence suggests the original singular Hive was created by accident in Russia when a fission fuel facility exploded in close proximity to a nanite factory. This original Hive has been dubbed the Endless Swarm. At some point and for unknown reasons the Endless Swarm fractured into multiple consciousnesses, what we think of as the current Hives. It is believed each is interpreting the original goals and aims of the Endless Swarm in a different fashion.
