Radiation

Radiation hazards on the surface tend to come in three types.

Radiation Clouds/Storms

Drifting patches of irradiated airborne material. They tend to show up on drone scans very well so FEF personnel are well warned a cloud is approaching. The usual method of dealing with one is simply to hunker down in position until the cloud has passed.

Irradiated Ground/Foliage

Some patches of ground are so heavily irradiated that even after five centuries they're a hazard to human lives. Your PADD will usually be able to detect these approaching so picking your way around them is easy enough. Where a route around isn't viable a gas mask or a suitable nanite patch will protect you.

Be aware that certain areas are too far gone for patches and masks. These areas will need a properly planned expedition with purpose-built suits.

Radioactive Objects

There's a lot of old world tech still around on the surface and several of the surface tribes have added to it, cracked it open, or smashed it. That's left a lot of salvage and a proportion of it can be highly radioactive. Approach salvage with caution and scan it thoroughly before you pick it up.
